CDEC works with local Cumbrian schools and community groups to influence and promote global learning and citizenship throughout Cumbria, nationally and internationally.
They are well known for providing excellent training for teachers and opportunities for schools and communities to be involved with Philosophy for Children (P4C), the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the wide-ranging school and community projects that they deliver. These projects vary from those encouraging school children to understand their communities to helping groups develop welcoming communities in Cumbria and building understanding of other countries and their cultures through collaboration. CDEC is part of the nation-wide Consortium of Development Education Centres and works with partners in the UK, Europe and further afield to deliver projects and bring the wider world to young Cumbrians.
CDEC believes Cumbria is a beacon of global citizenship.
