In an increasingly uncertain world, Global Learning and an awareness of being part of a wider community beyond ourselves, is more important than ever. And the climate crisis affects us all, but it’s not always easy to work out the best way to approach the subject with children in school. We believe that having fun whilst learning about difficult issues is key to making a difference and helping pupils to make their voice heard.

When We Sing it Brings us Closer is a research-based initiative of Qantra Services and CDEC, working in partnership with Fischy Music and Christian Aid. This May we’re providing schools with two high-quality opportunities to learn about, and directly experience, the power of music and art for Global Learning.

We will showcase how music and art can unlock your school’s potential to connect with others from different cultures, acting in partnership to create a more sustainable future for us all.

Event for Pupils - Sing Up For Climate Justice!

Bring your choir, class or small group (Years 3-6) to join us for this amazing celebration of our wonderful world through art and music. Led by Stephen Fischbacher MBE of the brilliant Fischy Music, the children will connect through song, reflect on the beauty and challenges of our world, and take action together as they raise their voices for climate justice.

Pupils will also have the opportunity to display artwork they have prepared around the issue of climate justice as part of a two-week art exhibition in Kendal Parish Church, inspired by Christian Aid’s Creative for Climate Justice project.

To amplify pupils’ voices, local politicians, decision makers and leaders will also be invited to this event.

Participating schools will be sent a resource pack to help them prepare for the event; the pack will include some songs to learn, classroom resources to explore climate justice, and ideas for creating related art work.

Venue: Kendal Parish Church

Date and time: Wednesday 21st May, 2 - 3.15pm

Cost: £1 per pupil (at the booking link below, please adjust the 'Qty' number to reflect the number of pupils coming on the day)
